"Strengthening Community Care
For Older Adults And Their Families"

To help the aging community prepare for the 2007 legislative session the Minnesota Leadership Council on Aging held the first Aging Policy Exchange on Decemer 11, 2006. The first Exchange allowed the MNLCOA to formally lauch itself as a non-partisan leader and resource in the field of aging.

In 2006 the purpose of the Exchange was to host a discussion identifying common ground as well as differences to begin to forge a negotiated aging agenda supporting livable communities in Minnesota.  Additionally, the Exchange provided a format for disseminating information on major 2007 legislative proposals related to older adults and their families.

Tim Penny, Congressman from Minnesota's First Congressional District from 1982 to 1994, 2002 gubernatorial candidate, and current Co-Director of the Humphrey Institute Policy Forum served as the facilitator for the Exchange.
