Assisted Living in Minnesota

Our Framework of Rights and Protections

The Elder Care and Vulnerable Protection Act of 2019

Background
In 2019, following a Star Tribune Left to Suffer series highlighting maltreatment in senior living settings, Minnesota passed historic reforms to the regulatory framework for housing-with-services establishments commonly referred to as assisted living. This sweeping new law addresses assisted living licensure and older adult protections.
