About the Role

This position is designed as a contract between an individual and the Minnesota Leadership Council on Aging for part-time, grant-funded work estimated at 10 hours per week. The position is hybrid, allowing for mostly virtual work with up to two in-person meetings each month in the twin cities. This role was first established in 2018 and is funded through calendar year 2023, with the intention of continuation in the future.

Internal

The Director of Equity will focus on internal capacity-building goals of the Leadership Council and its member delegates, including staff support for the monthly meetings of our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.

External

This is also a public-facing role, responsible for fostering relationships across our members, funders, and statewide communities, including convening the monthly meetings of the Minnesota Diverse Elders Coalition.

Champion

We are in search of a dynamic individual aligned with our commitment to anti-ageism and anti-racism work who will continue to enhance our efforts through positive statewide leadership.

We are especially encouraging Black, Indigenous, and People of Color to apply.

About the Organization

Minnesota Leadership Council on Aging is a statewide coalition of 33 non-profit organizations in the field of aging that are dedicated to creating communities and systems that support aging with dignity and a spirit of well-being in Minnesota.

Working together, delegates of the Leadership Council champion:

  • diverse, equitable and inclusive communities in which to age;
  • a Minnesota free of ageism;
  • coordinated Age-Friendly systems; and
  • people who provide care for older Minnesotans.

Minnesota Diverse Elders Coalition is an initiative sponsored by the Leadership Council comprised of individuals and organizations that work to end ageism, racism and the disparities facing older Minnesotans. Members are drawn from organizations across Minnesota that serve Black, Indigenous, People of Color, LGBTQ+, undocumented, immigrant, refugee, and other essential voices.

The Coalition is convened monthly and enjoys a close-knit culture of trust and candid exchange, in which high priorities are placed on communication, recognition, and collaboration.
